On August 4th and 5th, two members of the SilverRail engineering team will be riding 192 miles as part of the Pan Mass Challenge, a two-day bike ride to support the Dana-Farber Insitute and the Jimmy Fund.

At SilverRail, we are proud to support their athletic and charitable pursuits as they take on this huge endeavour.

Why they are riding

Our two riders, Mike Perrault and Keith Miller, have both been personally affected by cancer in their families.

Mike rides because, like many people, he has witnessed the devastating effects of cancer on family and friends. MIke's wife, Nicole, has been cancer free for almost 11 years and she owes her health to the work of institutions like Dana-Farber that are committed to providing the best treatment available today while also working to develop tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.

Keith rides because, both he and his wife, Alison, lost their mothers to cancer when they were kids. They recently met two kids who have directly benefited from the work of the Jimmy Fund and are now cancer-free. The PMC ride provides an opportunity to challenge himself to extend his physical limits, while always keeping in mind the fact that cancer patients often endure much worse.

How you can support their efforts

The Dana-Farber Institute and the Jimmy Fund are critical parts of the Massachusetts and national fight against cancer in our society. The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber, helping to increase the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. Last year's Pan Mass Challenge ride raised $35 million - 60% of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue.
