SilverRail Employee Profile Series volume 2: Mike Perrault

Mike Perrault is one of our more recent recruits, and heads up the UI work we do here at SilverRail. Right now he is leading the charge on the development of our Agent application, SilverAgent, which will provide a tool for travel management companies to manage their rail bookings directly. We should have the first beta product out this fall, something we are very excited about. Thanks for the profile Mike, and keep up the great work!

Title at SRT

SilverRail UI Architect

Describe what you do for SilverRail

Design and implement UI-centric applications for SilverRail (Booking Engine and SilverAgent).

How long have you been with SilverRail

Roughly 1 year.

Favorite thing about working at SilverRail

Opportunity to work with a talented, motivated team to build a revolutionary, game-changing product.

An interesting fact about you

I had the honor of playing ice hockey for the Black and Gold Legends charity ice hockey team (former Boston Bruins players) as a goaltender for 10 years, even though I never actually played with the Bruins or any professional team. I guess you could say I was the "has been" that never was. I even played some charity games against the Hanson Brothers from Slap Shot fame; they haven't changed a bit.

What do you do outside of SilverRail

I play and coach ice hockey. I love to travel with my wife and 13 year son. I enjoy (well, usually enjoy) working on my 100-year old farm house in Groton.

Any good stories you have relating to trains

I have always enjoyed train travel and have some wonderful memories of traveling on trains throughout Europe on my honeymoon. Trains became a regular part of my daily life with the birth of my son, Harry. He was a Thomas the Tank Engine fan before he could even say "Sir Topham Hat." On his sixth birthday, he graduated from those little wooden train sets to an N-scale model railway. I've spent many an hour working on track layouts, building paper mache mountains, and hunting for the tiny N-scale accessories that fell on the carpet.
